Buo ang Saya ng Pasko: Jollibee Reminds Us What Makes Christmas Truly Complete

This Christmas, Jollibee takes a more heartfelt turn—focusing on what makes the season meaningful: FAMILY.

In a time when life feels busier, distances grow longer, challenges arise, and many Filipinos find themselves away from home, Jollibee’s newest holiday campaign, Buo ang Saya ng Pasko,” uplifts our spirits and reminds us that true joy is found in togetherness with family—however it’s formed: by blood, by bond, or by choice.

Through a series of touching vignettes in its new Christmas film, Jollibee captures how both typical families and different versions of Filipino families now come together -- There’s the nurse celebrating a night shift with hospital staff, a security guard sharing laughs with fellow workers, a couple treating their beloved pets like family, a single mother and her daughters finding joy in a simple Jollibee meal and a large family celebrating Christmas reunions across generations.

Says Dorothy Dee-Ching - VP and Head of Marketing, Jollibee Philippines:

"What makes Filipino Christmases so special is the love we share and the joy we bring to one another. Family has always been at the heart of every Filipino Christmas, but we also know that times have changed. By embracing the many ways we now define family, we hope to rekindle in everyone the true meaning of joy this season — that Christmas is complete not when everything is perfect or traditional, but because no matter where we are or who we celebrate with, as long as we’re together and there’s Jollibee on the table, Buo ang Saya ng Pasko.“

Each story mirrors real-life moments of warmth and connection that make Christmas feel whole again. Accompanied with an original soundtrack, Jollibee’s new heartwarming film reminds us that even as the faces around the table change, as long as the family is together—Buo ang saya ng Pasko.

So, this Christmas, Jollibee invites you all to share the joy of togetherness with your family. As the film beautifully states, “Tunay ang ligaya basta’t tayo’y magkasama. Dito, sarap ang pinagsasaluhan. Buo ang saya ng Pasko.”

LG PuriCare™ Dehumidifiers Power a New Era of Art and Heritage Conservation at the National Museum of Fine Arts

LG Philippines has reaffirmed its enduring partnership with the National Museum of Fine Arts, donating LG Puricare™ Dehumidifier units as part of a shared commitment to preserving the nation’s cultural treasures. These state-of-the-art units are now in place across key galleries, maintaining ideal climate conditions to safeguard delicate and irreplaceable works of art.

Museums are far more than spaces for public display—they are controlled environments where even minor fluctuations in temperature or humidity can lead to long-term damage. Excess moisture, in particular, can cause warping, mold growth, and pigment deterioration. That’s where dehumidifiers play a critical role: maintaining stable humidity levels that help ensure the longevity of collections.

This partnership strengthens the National Museum’s internal climate regulation systems, enhancing its ability to meet the demands of professional art conservation. Each LG PuriCare™ Dehumidifier contributes to long-term protection across the museum’s most vulnerable and valuable spaces.

Designed with both performance and safety in mind, LG’s PuriCare™ Dehumidifiers feature a highly efficient Dual Inverter Compressor, allowing for faster moisture removal and significant energy savings. UVnano™ technology helps maintain a hygienic water tank by inhibiting bacterial growth, while the ultra-quiet 33dB operation ensures that conservation work continues undisturbed. Engineered for ease of use, the units also include ergonomic handles, smooth-glide wheels, continuous drainage options, and smart connectivity via the LG ThinQ™ app for real-time monitoring and remote control—enabling seamless integration into the museum’s day-to-day preservation efforts.

“LG is proud to be a partner in preserving the nation’s cultural treasures,” said Mr. Nakhyun Seong, Managing Director of LG Philippines. “Through this donation, we’re helping to create the right conditions for protecting priceless artworks. It’s a privilege to support institutions that celebrate Filipino identity and creativity. Life’s Good when history, heritage, and innovation come together.”

At the heart of the National Museum of Fine Arts lies a collection that tells the evolving story of the Filipino people—through resilience, artistry, and national pride. Few works capture this spirit more than Juan Luna’s monumental Spoliarium. To help safeguard this iconic painting and others by National Artists like Fernando Amorsolo, Félix Resurrección Hidalgo, and Benedicto Cabrera, LG PuriCare™ Dehumidifiers—each capable of removing up to 30 liters of moisture per day—now work silently in the background, defending against the invisible threats of time, decay, and climate.

“Spoliarium is the most iconic work of art in the Philippines,” said Jeremy R. Barns, Director-General of the National Museum of the Philippines. “When it won the gold medal in Madrid in 1884, it inspired none other than José Rizal himself—and it continues to inspire every generation since. That’s why we must protect it—not just as a piece of history, but as a living symbol of our national identity, for all who come after us.”

He added, “Luna’s journey and triumph in Europe are powerful reminders of our cultural strength. His work, and others like it, reflect our roots, our resilience, and how far we’ve come as a nation.”

Preserving these works is not without challenges. The museum battles the effects of the country’s tropical climate daily. “Humidity is one of the biggest threats to our collection,” Director Barns explained. “Fluctuations in temperature can severely damage fragile works—paintings, wood, canvas. That’s why we need environmental control. LG’s dehumidifiers are exactly what we need to fight moisture and ensure these pieces endure.”

With cutting-edge humidity control technology now deployed throughout the galleries, the National Museum is better equipped to strengthen its preservation efforts—protecting masterpieces from Spoliarium to Sabel and everything in between.

More than a donation, this partnership represents a growing, shared commitment to heritage conservation. As the public continues to rediscover the joys of visiting museums and cultural institutions, the National Museum remains steadfast in its mission—to preserve, educate, and inspire. This same technology that protects priceless art also proves highly useful in everyday environments—offering ideal humidity control for homes, offices, and other spaces where clean air and moisture balance are essential.

“Our partnership with LG continues to grow,” Director Barns concluded. “It began with digital displays that helped us tell stories. Now, it has expanded to include conservation technology that protects these works—so they can be seen and appreciated not only today but for many years to come.”

To support the arts is to support the very soul of a nation. Through its meaningful contribution, LG helps ensure that Filipino art, culture, and history are not only preserved—but remain visible, accessible, and alive for generations to come.

Because when art and heritage are protected, Life’s Good.

High Speed Hitters’ added firepower boosting team’s PVL Reinforced quest

Russian import Anastasiia Bavykina and draft picks Alleiah Malaluan and Zenneth Perolino join pusong PLDT-armed, title-hunting core

The PLDT High Speed Hitters are storming into the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference powered by renewed strength and added firepower.

Coming off back-to-back preseason championships in the PVL On Tour and the Invitational Conference, PLDT led with a 15-game winning streak – before their loss to the Cignal Super Spikers in their most recent duel. This season, the team channels the heartbreak of last year's fourth place finish into potent fuel, assembling a championship roster led by a world-class import and two dynamic local talents.

Leading the charge is new Russian outside hitter Anastasiia Bavykina. Standing at a towering 6’2”, the 33-year-old brings over 15 years of international experience, spanning Russia, Europe, Asia, and the United States. The veteran player is the perfect solution for PLDT, adding crucial height, offensive versatility, and an immediate blocking presence to complement the team's already solid defensive unit.

Bavykina joins Invitational Conference MVP Savi Davison to establish one of the league’s most lethal outside tandems. Coach Rald Ricafort credits Bavykina for shoring up crucial gaps, bringing experience and veteran leadership to the High Speed Hitters’ bid for a historic three-peat.

“Anastasiia’s receiving, blocking, serving, and defense skills compliment the starters well. We don’t need another scoring machine. We need a veteran who could hold the team together, and a stable presence that can support the team’s high-level performance,” said Ricafort of Bavykina, who debuted in the PVL against the Capital1 Solar Spikers with 10 spikes, 2 service aces, and 10 excellent receives; and then registered a conference-high record of 18 points against Farm Fresh Foxies last weekend.

Last June, before acquiring the foreign phenom in Bavykina, PLDT secured two promising college standouts to inject youth and hunger into the rotation: De La Salle University power hitter Alleiah Malaluan and Enderun College middle blocker Zenneth Perolino, bringing championship pedigree and agility to the roster.

“Our goal is to become champions and build a stronger connection with one another. For me, a successful campaign means reaching our goals – both individually and as a team,” said Malaluan, who went to school at De La Salle for 15 years. She made three UAAP seniors finals appearances wearing green and white, with the Season 85 title as the highlight.

“This conference, fans can expect me to be a dependable teammate – a good support system, a helping hand, and someone who’s always ready to step up whenever and wherever the team needs me,” she added.

Among the first non-UAAP or NCAA players selected in the PVL Draft, Perolino is thrilled to be a rookie under Coach Ricafort’s belt.

“It’s a good kind of pressure,” she said. “As a rookie, I know there is nothing to lose but more to gain. Playing in a new system and coaching style has helped me unlock more of my potential. The team helped me adjust to the new environment, switching from playing in collegiate to the professional league. They've been very understanding and patient with me.”

Bavykina, Malaluan, and Perolino join a tested core featuring team captain-libero Kath Arado (PVL On Tour Best Libero and Invitational Conference Best Libero and Finals MVP); the imposing middle blocker trio of Mika Reyes (PVL On Tour Finals MVP), Majoy Baron (PVL On Tour Best Middle Blocker), and Dell Palomata (national team member and AVC Women’s Volleyball Nations Cup Best Middle Blocker); and multi-awarded setter Kim Fajardo and opposite spiker Kianna Dy.

Blending veteran wisdom, youthful energy, and overall efficient play creates a balanced lineup primed for sustained success. Armed with new speed and size, PLDT is setting its sights on making the 2025 Reinforced Conference the capstone of a PVL grand slam season. The team currently leads the PVL Pool A standings at 3 wins and 1 loss.

“Fans can expect the team to always give their best every training, every game. It proves to be a very difficult conference, so we alwaysgive our all,” said Ricafort. “Thank you so much for always supporting us. From the ups and downs, to winning the back-to-back championship. Please continue supporting us this conference and we promise to work hard and give our all every game!”

BingoPlus Foundation embraces love and bridges hope by advancing Mental Healthcare for every Filipino

For Filipinos struggling with anxiety, depression, and moments of acute crisis, accessible mental health support remains a daunting challenge. The expensive cost, limited availability of professionals, and mostly the unwanted social stigma often prevent those in need from seeking help.

Based on a journal in Acta Medica Philippina published in 2024, more than 12 million Filipinos are suffering from depression and anxiety due to poverty, disasters, and other socio-economic disparities. With the reported millions of individuals struggling with mental health, unfortunately, there are only two to three mental health workers available for every 100,000 Filipinos, according to the National Institute of Health.

Aiming to address this concern while at the same time create a compassionate community, the BingoPlus Foundation, the social development arm of DigiPlus Interactive Corp., has made a landmark move to bridge the gap in mental healthcare by forging ties with two of the country’s significant non-government organizations - Love Yourself and Bridges of Hope.

“At BingoPlus Foundation, we believe in 'multiplying the good' by forging meaningful partnerships that create real impact," said Angela Camins-Wieneke, Executive Director of BingoPlus Foundation. "By combining our resources, we can strengthen our shared mission to make mental health support accessible to everyone, no matter their location or circumstance."

EmbracePLUS: A helpline to self love

BingoPlus Foundation partnered with LoveYourself to establish a free help channel that would serve as the first line of support to fellowmen who are battling mental health issues - the EmbracePLUS.

Set to be fully operational beginning October 1, EmbracePLUS is a free, 24/7 helpline that acts as a critical first-response system for individuals facing mental health challenges. It aims to dismantle barriers to care, offering a critical first response system that is accessible to everyone, regardless of location or economic status.

Consisting of telehealth associates trained to  provide essential Psychological First Aid (PFA) and counseling support, EmbracePLUS offers two key touchpoints: the 24/7 initial assessments online through EmbracePlusPH Facebook page and the daily teleconsult calls from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. via dedicated hotlines 09082352351 (Smart) and 09563921924 (Globe).

BingoPlus Foundation and LoveYourself revealed that the new mental health helpline is a combination of two of their projects: Embrace Virtual Hub and KalusuganPLUS.

Embrace is LoveYourself's established online health platform that specializes in immediate, confidential support while KalusuganPLUS, which recently rolled out community-based mental health training for first responders at the barangay level in Cebu and General Santos, is one of the core health programs of BingoPlus Foundation.

Dr. Vin Pagtakhan, Founder and Executive Director of LoveYourself, emphasized the sustainability factor. "Beyond amplifying awareness, BingoPlus Foundation’s support helps strengthen our capacity for responder training and operations, ensuring our programs are not only immediate but also sustainable," he said. "This collaboration highlights the value of working together across sectors to create stronger and more responsive services."

The partnership is anchored by a renewed ₱500,000 commitment from BingoPlus Foundation. This vital funding supports the ongoing specialized training for telehealth associates and operations of the EmbracePlus hub.

Bridging hope in a new home

With a powerful commitment to building a more compassionate and stigma-free society, BingoPlus Foundation continues to find ways to provide stronger mental healthcare assistance.

While EmbracePLUS serves as the first line of help, a major step for individuals with mental health issues, BingoPlus Foundation believes there should also be a ready and reliable community for those people who will seek long term support.

Enter Bridges of Hope, the country’s largest network of rehabilitation and recovery private centers. With over fifteen facilities located from Luzon to Visayas, Bridges of Hope provides treatment to addiction and mental health problems.

Camins-Wieneke disclosed that in the spirit of multiplying the good, BingoPlus Foundation is amplifying the capacity of Bridges of Hope centers to serve more through the organization's donation of laptops, printers, televisions, projectors, fans, music instruments, and supplies saying “these are more than just tools; these are instruments of healing, learning, and hope.”

“We deeply appreciate BingoPlus commitment to the well being of their patrons and the gaming community as a whole. By working hand in hand with BingoPlus, we can ensure that those who need support have access to the right resources and that ourgaming environment is all safe and enjoyable,” disclosed Jon Ty, Chairman and CEO of Bridges of Hope.

In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, BingoPlus Foundation reaffirms its commitment to combat the suffering of millions of Filipinos living with mental health challenges. Through life-support hotlines, rapid response initiatives, and the amplification of mental health shelters, the Foundation remains steadfast in its advocacy to bring hope and embrace love as it works to restore the well-being and dignity of every Filipino. This is the action it takes, driven by an unwavering commitment to serve.

SM Prime Launches Manual for a Waste-Free Future

Manila. The SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime) campaign for a Waste-Free Future and its Recyclable, Disposable, Compostable, or RDC model aims to make segregation simple, easy, and actionable.

In the recent Sustainability Expo (SUSTEX 2025), SM Prime launched the SM Waste Free Future Manual – a playbook that encourages individuals and communities to learn about RDC and building better segregation habits.

Small steps, big impact

In the Philippines, the country generates up to 61,000 tons of waste daily and an annual 2.7 million tons of plastic waste. A figure that will rise with urbanization and poor waste disposal practices.

Inspired by the SM Green Movement’s strong call to action to make sustainability part of everyday life, SM Waste Free Future invites everyone to become part of the solution.

The three categories, RDC, make sorting waste an empowering exercise by focusing on the word “able” meaning having the power, skill, or the opportunity “to do”.  The manual’s easy, practical, and inspiring read hopes to encourage readers to do just that –championing segregation systems and proper waste disposal.

Learn, practice, champion

Done with great reflection during its incubation stages, SM Waste Free Future presented a rethink of waste segregation habits and systems built over time.

“We have to be open to new ways of doing things and of putting into action every little step that’s crucial for advancing waste management solutions,” said SM Engineering Design and Development President Hans “Chico” Sy, during the 2024 World Environment Day program launch.

Today, the campaign is deeply encouraged by institutions and agencies that strongly advocate developmental goals.

In his message of support, Dr. Selva Ramachandran, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), lauded the RDC bin labeling system. “Proper waste segregation is an entry point toward a circular economy – one that goes beyond waste management to design out waste, keep materials in circulation, and regenerate natural systems.”
